BISHKEK. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The U.S. and British strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen are absolutely illegitimate and contravene the UN Charter; Washington and London are waging a war and are trying to draw regional countries into it, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.
"Washington and London have waged a war on Yemen under the pretext of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. They are trying to draw regional countries into it. Still, their strikes on Houthi positions are absolutely illegitimate and have nothing to do with the right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, as Washington tries to present it," Patrushev said at a meeting of security council secretaries on Afghanistan in Bishkek.
