Russian Defense Ministry reports destroying Ukrainian SAMP/T air defense system, 96 drones

MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has reported destroying a French-made SAMP/T air defense missile system and 96 drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the past 24 hours.

"Russian tactical aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile and artillery forces have destroyed a French-made SAMP/T air defense missile system and struck Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel and military hardware in 138 areas," it said.

Air defense systems have downed 96 Ukrainian drones in the Lugansk People's Republic, the Donetsk People's Republic, and the Kharkov, Zaporozhye, and Kherson regions, as well as two rockets fired from HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, it said.

"A total of 571 planes, 266 helicopters, 12,819 unmanned aerial vehicles, 471 air defense missile systems, 15,107 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,222 multiple rocket launcher vehicles, 8,102 field artillery systems and mortars, and 18,837 special military automobiles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation," it said.
