MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - A woman with Russian-U.S. citizenship has been detained in Yekaterinburg for collecting and transferring donations to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and a high treason case has been opened against her, the press center for the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said.
"The unlawful activities of a 33-year-old resident of Los Angeles with Russian-U.S. dual citizenship were thwarted in Yekaterinburg. She was involved in providing financial assistance to a foreign state's actions directed against the security of our country," the press center said.
According to the FSB, since February 2022 the woman, "acting on her own initiative, has been collecting money in the interests of one of the Ukrainian organizations that was subsequently used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to buy tactical medicine supplies, gear, weapons and ammunition."
While in the U.S., the suspect attended rallies in support of Ukraine on a number of occasions, the press center said.
The FSB's Sverdlovsk region branch has opened a criminal case on a count of high treason.
"A court has remanded the suspect in custody as a restraining measure," the press center said.
