MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian troops remaining in Krynki must surrender, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
They should not be begged to evacuate, he said.
"Almost no one remains there. If anyone remains [there], one should not, like you reported to me, 'cry' over the radio, begging for evacuation, let them surrender," Putin said at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Shoigu for his part said in his report to the president that announcements are being made in the area using loudspeakers on the orders of the supreme commander-in-chief that the remaining troops should surrender.
"Although we understand that it is probably difficult to speak about text messages now, but nevertheless text messages and leaflets are being sent, that is, we are continuing this work," he said.
"The special task forces and the special operation forces are working, and if someone gives a signal that they are ready to surrender, all measures are taken to provide medical assistance to them, if needed. But there are not many situations like this now," Shoigu said.
