MINSK. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Belarus expects deliveries of Sukhoi Su-30SM aircraft and Mil Mi-35M helicopters this year, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said on Thursday.
"Plans for the current year [include] a delivery of Su-30SM aircraft and Mi-35M helicopters. The overhaul of our fleet of aviation hardware and weapons will continue in the near term," Khrenin was quoted by the state news outlet SB.Belarus Today as saying at a ceremony to mark the Day of Fatherland Defenders and Belarusian Armed Forces in Minsk on Thursday.
"Our armed forces are continually equipped with new and upgraded weapon models," he said.
"Thanks to our close cooperation with the Belarusian defense industry companies and supreme military-technical cooperation with our fraternal Russia, last year alone we had more than 200 [weapon] models put into service and some 300,000 units of weapons, military hardware and military-technical gear purchased and delivered to the troops," Khrenin said.
"The Belarusian army has received battalion sets of the Iskander short-range ballistic missile system, a regimental set of the S-400 surface-to-air missile system and a set of the Tor-M2 air defense missile system, V-300 Polonez-M MLRS missile systems, a BTR-82A armored personnel carrier, Mi-35M attack helicopters, a wide range of unmanned aircraft systems and modern reconnaissance, communication and navigation tools, radars, and much more," Khrenin said.
