Russia, China intend to step up coordination in int'l organizations - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Russian-Chinese relations have reached an unprecedented level and continue developing rapidly, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov received Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who is in Moscow on a working visit, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"The parties highly assessed the current state of Russian-Chinese relations, which have reached an unprecedented level and continue to develop dynamically in line with the agreements reached by the two countries' leaders," the statement said.

"The parties expressed their mutual intention to step up coordination in major international organizations and dialogue mechanisms in order to form a more equitable and sustainable polycentric world order," it said.

Additionally, "the aspirations to boost bilateral cooperation in BRICS were reaffirmed, taking into account Russia's chairmanship in the association this year," the statement said.

"The parties have had a confidential exchange of views on ensuring security in the Eurasian space, as well as in the Asia-Pacific region, taking into account Westerners' active attempts to create narrow-bloc military and political entities there. A number of 'hot' topics, including the Ukrainian crisis and the situation on the Korean Peninsula, were discussed," it said.
