MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russian forces are striking Ukrainian Armed Forces reserves to prevent them from redeploying toward the line of contact and counterattacking Russian positions, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"The combined group of forces is destroying the enemy's reserves with precision-guided weapons to prevent it from redeploying its forces toward the combat contact line and deprive it of an opportunity to counterattack our positions," Shoigu said at a Defense Ministry expanded board meeting on Tuesday.
After its counteroffensive failed, Ukraine is trying to stabilize the situation and prevent the frontline's collapse by using the remaining reserves, he said.
"We'll continue to carry out the tasks set by the supreme commander-in-chief in the special operation until its objectives are achieved," he said.
