MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The Ivan Gren landing ship has been deployed from the Russian Northern Fleet's main base in Severomorsk to the Barents Sea for a scheduled exercise, the fleet press service said.
"The crew will check the serviceability of the ship's systems and radio-technical and communication equipment at the fleet's coastal and maritime training ranges," the press service said on Wednesday.
It will also practice protection from underwater saboteurs, the press service said.
"Artillery will be fired at seaborne and coastal targets during next stages of the exercise," it said.
The Ivan Gren landing ship is the lead ship of Project 11711 built at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad. It entered service with the Russian Navy on June 20, 2018.
The ship can carry up to 300 marines, up to 13 tanks or up to 36 armored vehicles of main types. Its deck can accommodate two helicopters.
