MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Armed Forces must be sufficiently provided with air defense systems amid Western plans to deliver various types of aircraft and long-range cruise missiles to Kiev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said.
"In the near future, the West is planning to supply the Kiev regime with various types of airplanes [and] long-range missiles, and recently the enemy has also been actively using strike drones. In these circumstances, our Armed Forces must be sufficiently provided with the most-needed anti-aircraft guided missiles for air defense systems," Medvedev said when speaking at a meeting of the Russian Military-Industrial Commission's working group.
As new strike weapons are pumped into Ukraine, the expenditure of such missiles will accelerate, he said.
"Facilitating production of especially needed air defense systems must be a top priority. Not long ago, I reported to the supreme commander-in-chief. There are several special instructions in this regard," Medvedev said.
