MAGAS. March 7 (Interfax) - Russian defense and security agencies have continued witnessing attempts by foreign states to destabilize the situation in the North Caucasus, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.
"The western attempts to destabilize the situation in the North Caucasus continue. A good example is the events that occurred in Dagestan in October 2023, when riots leading to disruption of an airport operations occurred as a result of provocations and instigation from abroad. The situation was stabilized thanks to prompt actions by law enforcement agencies and authorities," Patrushev said at a meeting on national security in the North Caucasus Federal District in Magas on Thursday.
A group of six militants who supported the international terrorist organization ISIL (banned in Russia) was eliminated in Karabulak, Ingushetia, on March 3, he said.
