Pashinyan, Erdogan meet regularly as part of normalization process - Armenian FM

YEREVAN. March 7 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are maintaining regular contacts as part of a process to normalize bilateral relations between the two countries, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said.

"As part of a process for normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey, special representatives have been appointed, who have had meetings and phone calls. There have also been phone calls between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The contacts are ongoing, which ensures positive dynamics," Mirzoyan said in an interview with Turkey's Anadolu Agency.

Armenia and Turkey have agreed to open their border to citizens of third countries and holders of diplomatic passports, he said.

"Armenia sincerely wishes for the state border to be opened as soon as possible, for diplomatic relations to be normalized, and for ties between the two nations and cultures to be expanded," Mirzoyan said.

The opening of the Armenian-Turkish border and the development of economic relations between Armenia and Turkey would be beneficial for people, "and most Armenian citizens understand this," he said.
