Explosive device dropped near critical infrastructure at Zaporozhye NPP - plant reps

ROSTOV-ON-DON. March 14 (Interfax) - An explosive device was dropped outside a fence near diesel fuel tanks on the territory of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), the plant's representatives said in a statement.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have continued to attack the Zaporozhye NPP and the city of Energodar. An attack on the facility's critical infrastructure was recorded. A caseless explosive device was dropped near a fence in front of diesel fuel tanks. If the fuel tanks had been struck, it would have led to dire consequences," the statement published on the Zaporozhye NPP's Telegram channel said.

Video footage has been released showing the site of the explosion, located several meters from the fence in front of the diesel fuel tanks. A small crater formed as a result of the blast. The scene of the incident was shown to International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors.

"Fortunately, neither the equipment nor personnel were affected by this strike. The experts were brought to the site of the hit today. They were able to see that with their own eyes and take photos of the site of the strike. We asked the experts to inform the agency of this incident," Zaporozhye NPP director Yury Chernichuk said.

The last strikes directly targeting the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP were recorded in November 2022.
