MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Russia's Strategic Missile Forces will hold several exercises in three Russian regions, the Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"Command post exercises, during which Yars land-based mobile missile systems will be deployed to field positions, are due to take place in the Yoshkar-Ola (Mari El), Tagil (Sverdlovsk region) and Barnaul (Altai Territory) missile units under the supervision of the missile units' commanders," the ministry said.
The Yars is a land-based or silo-based strategic missile system. According to official information, it operates at distances of up to 11,000 kilometers and has multiple maneuverable warheads.
