NEW YORK, UN. April 3 (Interfax) - The international community should condemn the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and declare the inadmissibility of such attacks, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said.
"We call on the international community to unequivocally condemn Israel's reckless actions, which violate the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and the inviolability of diplomatic property," Nebenzya said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
"I hope for solidarity among the members of the Security Council that attacks on diplomatic institutions are unacceptable," he said.
"Unless we confirm this solidarity, whatever the next raid will be, it may target a diplomatic mission of any state," Nebenzya said.
Israel struck the Iranian consulate in the southwestern part of Damascus, as Syrian authorities said on Monday. Among others, two generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed, Tehran reported. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi warned later that Tehran would not leave Israel's airstrikes unanswered.
