Yerevan awaiting CSTO reaction to Azerbaijan's capture of Armenian territory near Jermuk in 2022

YEREVAN. April 4 (Interfax) - Armenia is still waiting for a political assessment from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) regarding the capture of Armenian sovereign territories by Azerbaijan, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said.

"The borders of Armenia are totally clear, and it is clear to everyone what the sovereign territory of Armenia means. Our position has not changed. We expect the CSTO to give a political assessment of the fact of the occupation of Armenia's sovereign territories," Kostanyan told journalists on Thursday, adding that he is speaking about the events of September 2022.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces captured a number of areas near the Armenian city of Jermuk in September 2022. Armenian General Staff Chief Edvard Asryan said on September 16, 2022 that Azerbaijani troops had invaded Armenian territory near Jermuk, eastern Armenia, by 7.5 kilometers.
