VLADIVOSTOK. April 5 (Interfax) - The Russian Pacific Fleet's Gromky and Sovershenny corvettes have practiced repelling a mass mock enemy airstrike in Vladivostok, the fleet's press service said in a statement on Friday.
"According to the exercise scenario, the operational service of the fleet's territorial control center acquired intelligence which said groups of aircraft had taken off from mock enemy airfields towards the fleet's main base in order to strike military infrastructure," the statement said.
The protocol was enabled to detect, acquire, lock onto and destroy the air targets. The crews simulated firing Redut air-defense missile systems and AU A-190 artillery systems.
The ship commanders made a joint decision to use additional crews armed with Igla MANPADS. All simulated air targets were hit.
The mock enemy and the targets were electronically simulated.
The exercise was part of the fleet's training plan.
