About 10,000 children evacuated from Russian Belgorod region - governor

VORONEZH. April 8 (Interfax) - Another group of children in the Russian Belgorod region is preparing to evacuate to other parts of Russia, and about 10,000 children have been evacuated to date, the region's governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

"I called the heads of the Pskov, Ivanovo and Kostroma regions and the Republic of Bashkortostan yesterday. I have talked with every head personally, so we start preparing our children for being sent to those regions. We have reached an agreement with the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania," Gladkov said on VK on Monday.

About 10,000 children have been taken in by other regions, he added.

The Belgorod region, including the administrative center, have been under intense attack from Ukraine since March 12. There are casualties. Residents of shelled territories are being moved to temporary accommodation centers. Children are being evacuated to other parts of Russia for safety reasons.
