Baku reports Armenian attack on Azerbaijani positions

BAKU/YEREVAN. April 8 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has reported an Armenian attack on its positions in the Nakhchivan sector, but the Armenian Defense Ministry denied this.

"Armenian forces stationed near Sultanbay in the Pashali region fired small arms at Azerbaijani positions near Shada in the Shahbuz region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic at around 5:15 p.m. on April 7," the ministry said.

Azerbaijani forces responded appropriately, it said.

For its part, the Armenian Defense Ministry denied the Azerbaijani report.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry's statement alleging an Armenian attack on Azerbaijani positions in the southwestern part of the border zone at 5:15 p.m. on April 7 is untrue, it said.
