Putin tasks govt with setting up ad hoc commission on flashfloods in Orenburg, Kurgan, Tyumen regions - Peskov

MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin was briefed by the emergency situations minister and the governors of the Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen regions on the flashfloods and assistance provided to people on Monday morning, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"This morning, Putin was briefed by the governors of the Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen regions on the flashflood situation and measures taken to help people in the flood zone and the evacuation of those at risk of flooding. Putin also listened to a report by Emergency Situations Minister [Alexander] Kurenkov," Peskov told reporters.

"Then the head of state tasked the government to set up an ad hoc government commission led by Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurenkov," he said.

Heads of agencies providing urgent assistance to the population also briefed Putin on their work, Peskov said.
