Armenian FM, CoE secretary general discuss S. Caucasus in Yerevan

YEREVAN. April 8 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic-Buric discussed regional stability and cooperation between Armenia and the CoE at a meeting in Yerevan on Monday.

"The Armenian foreign minister and the Council of Europe secretary general discussed steps aimed at establishing a stable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus. In this context, Mirzoyan highlighted Armenia's commitment and efforts, noting the importance of shaping an atmosphere free of hostility and a clear commitment on crucial issues. Armenia's partnership with the Council of Europe as well as regional stability were discussed at the meeting," the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service said.

Mirzoyan presented Armenia's approach to the core issues in the process of settling relations with Azerbaijan: recognition of territorial integrity, the inviolability of borders, unblocking regional communications based on the 1991 Almaty Declaration, and respect for the principles of international law.

The parties also discussed the implementation of the Armenia-EU Action Program for 2023-2026.
