TBILISI. April 8 (Interfax) - The Georgian Parliament Bureau on Monday made a decision to start discussing the bill On Foreign Influence Transparency in the parliament's Legal Affairs Committee.
Opposition parliamentarians again said in the Bureau meeting the bill initiated by the ruling party Georgian Dream is a copy of the Russian foreign agent law and therefore cannot be adopted in Georgia.
The Georgian president's parliamentary secretary Giorgi Mskhiladze said in the Bureau meeting Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili is categorically against the adoption of the foreign influence transparency bill, which he said has been sharply criticized in the European Union, the United States and NATO.
"The president, of course, will use her constitutional right and veto this bill," Mskhiladze said.
The Bureau meeting was held amid a small protest held in front of the parliament building by representatives of non-governmental organizations and opposition parties.
