BEIJING. April 9 (Interfax) - Russia is interested in cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) following drone attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"I think responsibility will be unavoidable this time. We are interested in cooperating with the IAEA and the UN Secretariat and, of course, will seek their honest recognition of what is happening both around the Zaporozhye NPP and in Ukraine as a whole," Lavrov said at a press conference in Beijing.
Moscow "will bring the issue to a special meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors and a special meeting of the UN Security Council and will insist on the need for frank, unequivocal assessments of actions of the Kiev regime," he said.
"When we agreed to the permanent presence of IAEA experts at the Zaporozhye NPP, we were guided, in particular, by the need for their fair assessment of what is happening there, how the plant is managed, and how the nuclear safety and security are provided. Of course, we expected attacks of the kind on the largest nuclear power plant in Europe to be recorded," Lavrov said.
