Peskov: Absence of European security, strategic stability dialogue not Russia's fault

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - The degrading European security system needs a dialogue on strategic stability, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The situation is changing, the shifting environment is probably due to the degrading security system in Europe. It requires a dialogue on new systems and a new, common idea of security and strategic stability. Regretfully, there is no such dialogue now, but this is not Russia's fault," Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

He was asked to comment on Turkey's decision to suspend participation in the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty.

Peskov said the treaty had largely lost "its viability due to changed geopolitical conditions and the strategic environment."
