MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Foreign Ministers in Minsk on April 12, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"The first meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers this year will be held under Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's chairmanship in Minsk on April 12," Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the CIS foreign ministers "will exchange opinions on relevant international and regional subjects and discuss new areas of work, primarily within the Commonwealth's format," she said.
The participants will attach special significance to measures to expand security cooperation within the CIS area and counter conventional and new challenges and threats, she said.
