New arms transport rolled out from covered berth in Rybinsk

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - The Vladimir Pyalov arms transport has been rolled out from a covered berth to an open slipway at the Vympel shipyard in Rybinsk, the United Shipbuilding Company (USC) said on Wednesday.

"Plant personnel will install the upper tier of the ship's superstructure on the open slipway, and preparations for launching the ship will begin," the USC said.

As reported, the Vladimir Pyalov is being built for the Russian Baltic Fleet.

According to the USC, the vessel is designed to take aboard, store and transport ammunition to submarines and surface ships. It has a full displacement of over 3,600 tonnes, a length of 80 meters, and sufficient seaworthiness and cruising range.

The ship has an ice-proof hull, a double bottom, double sides, two cargo holds, a container deck, a crane with a 20-tonne lifting capacity, and a helicopter pad on the bow, the USC said.
