Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry accuses Russian police of breaching Vienna Convention by breaking into ambassadorial advisor's home

BISHKEK. April 12 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has called inadmissible the conduct of Russian police officers who, in its words, broke into the house of an ambassadorial advisor to check the legality of a foreign citizen's stay in Moscow.

According to the ministry press service, its consular department met with counselor of the Russian embassy to Kyrgyzstan Andrei Buryev. "The Kyrgyz side expressed concern about actions of Russian police officers in regard to family members of Kyrgyz ambassadorial advisor Manas Joldoshbekov, which flagrantly breached the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations," the statement said.

Two police officers broke into Joldoshbekov's house on April 8 to check the legality of a foreign citizen's stay in Moscow, it said.

"Such actions of Russian law enforcement agencies towards accredited employees of the Kyrgyz embassy are inadmissible and require a thorough investigation and prompt punishment of the culprits," the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.

In turn, Buryev expressed regret and said that the Russian Foreign Ministry had received a respective note from Kyrgyzstan and was looking into it.
