YEREVAN. April 19 (Interfax) - Armenia and Azerbaijan will demarcate the border in four villages in the Tavush region in northeastern Armenia for the first time, the office of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
The Armenian and Azerbaijani border delimitation commissions posted a joint press release after a meeting on Friday. They said that the border delimitation has been preliminarily approved in the area of the Armenian village of Baghanis, the Azerbaijani village of Baghanis Ayrum, the Armenian village of Voskepar, the Azerbaijani village of Asagi Askipara, the Armenian village of Kirants, the Azerbaijani village of Xeyrimli, the Armenian village of Berkaber, and the Azerbaijani village of Qizilhajili.
"This means that the two commissions have reproduced the borders that existed between the villages in the Soviet era on the map, and at the next stage the borders will be updated and demarcated. That would be an unprecedented event: our countries will have a demarcated border in these four villages for the first time ever," Pashinyan's office told the Armenian state-run news agency Armenpress.
