Kremlin receives no signals from Yerevan on need to withdraw Russian border guards - Peskov

MOSCOW. April 22 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has denied receiving any messages from Yerevan regarding the need to withdraw Russian border guards due to the upcoming delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and said that the leaders of Russia and Armenia will soon be able to discuss this and other pressing issues in person.

"Once again, there have been no signals of this kind. We expect [Russian] President Vladimir Putin and [Armenian] Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to have an opportunity to discuss these, and if necessary, some other pressing matters, in person in the near future," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. Journalists asked Peskov to comment on a recent statement by Pashinyan, who said that Russian border guards would have to be withdrawn from Armenia's Tavush region following the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as the contact line would be replaced by the border.
