Russian Pacific Fleet corvette holds air defense drills

VLADIVOSTOK. April 23 (Interfax) - The Rezky corvette of the Russian Pacific Fleet has held an air defense exercise while exiting its base in Vladivostok, the fleet's press service said in a statement.

"The ship's commander received an order from the territorial center of the Pacific Fleet headquarters to conduct drills as soon as a division of surface ships sailed from the berth," the press service said.

Under the scenario of the exercise, air defense forces on board the ship detected a low-flying small target, identifying it as a mock enemy unmanned aerial vehicle. Personnel aboard the corvette were put on alert and practiced an algorithm of repelling an air attack, it said.

The ship's anti-drone unit was deployed and electronic warfare systems were used.

The mock enemy drone was simulated by electronic methods. The ship accomplished all tasks of the exercise, which was held in line with the Pacific Fleet's combat training plan.
