BELGOROD. May 6 (Interfax) - A man has been killed and a child wounded in a Ukrainian army attack on the Belgorod district, Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Monday.
"Our air defense system has been activated over Belgorod and the Belgorod district and downed seven airborne targets on the approach to the city. To my great sorrow, a civilian was killed in a direct hit on his summer kitchen in the village of Nikolskoye in the Belgorod district. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the killed man," Gladkov said on his Telegram channel.
An eight-year-old girl was injured by shrapnel in Nikolskoye, as well, he said.
"She is being brought to the children's regional clinical hospital by an ambulance team. Medics are providing her with all medical assistance," Gladkov said.
Fourteen private homes and one apartment in an apartment building were damaged, a car and a tractor were scratched by shrapnel in the Ukrainian air attack on the village of Nikolskoye, Gladkov said.
