MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax) - Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, has travelled a challenging road of revival and development, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Tuesday on the occasion of Putin's inauguration as president.
"Putin is an advantage for Russia. Society's consolidation around our president will continue to lead the country to new victories," Volodin said on his Telegram channel.
"Devastation and economic ruin were widespread in the 1990s following the breakup of the Soviet Union and the irresponsible actions of politicians, people were left in the lurch, social obligations to citizens were not honored, and a war was raging in the Caucasus," he said.
"We could have lost the Russian Federation. Putin saved the country. He revived the country, restored its state competence and ensured its social and economic development," Volodin said.
Russia with Putin "has travelled a difficult road of revival and development, having become today a strong and sovereign state which is reckoned with across the world," he said.
