Ukrainian, LPR, DPR citizens can stay in Russia indefinitely after fingerprinting, medical checkup - Interior Ministry

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Interior Ministry's press center has elaborated on changes to the specific features of the legal status of certain categories of foreigners in Russia, including those from Ukraine.

In accordance with a decree signed by the Russian president, "the right to stay in the Russian Federation without limits to the term of stay and to carry out labor activity without any permits is retained for Ukrainian citizens and individuals who were citizens of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics [DPR and LPR], provided they undergo dactiloscopic registration, photographing and a medical checkup."

After passing the aforementioned procedures, the Russian Interior Ministry's territorial bodies issue citizens a corresponding document drawn up on a standard form (a green card).

At the same time, Ukrainian citizens registered on territories outside the LPR, DPR, and Kherson and Zaporozhye regions who have not received a green card will not be deported from the country until December 31, 2024.

"This procedure does not apply to citizens who were released from penitentiaries, who pose a threat to national or public security, and who have presented forged documents or reported false information," the police said.
