Moscow to give proportionate, strong response to London's actions - Russian Foreign Ministry (Part 2)

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - Moscow intends to give a proportionate and strong response to the actions of London, which has announced a number of measures on Russia, including the expulsion of a military attache and the lifting of diplomatic status from some Russian real estate, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

'We have to state that the British government not only does not intend to stop the policies of provoking Russia, but is making considerable efforts to increase the degree of confrontation," Zakharova said in a commentary on a Telegram channel.

"This time London decided to use blatant lies to substantiate the anti-Russian measures announced on May 8, including the expulsion of an attache on defense matters of the Embassy of Russia in London and the lifting of diplomatic status from some real estate belonging to us under the pretext of some 'Russian connection' in a case involving a fire in commercial warehouses on the outskirts of the British capital. And all that happened without providing any documents or specific facts to us," the commentary said.

"We have warned London more than once that any unfriendly actions will be followed by an inevitable proportionate response. Our reaction will be strong and balanced," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in her commentary.

It states that Moscow believes that "the UK allegations on the alleged involvement of our country in some malign actions, especially without proof of their speculations, are extremely irresponsible and categorically unacceptable."
