Moldovan Defense Ministry announces new reservist training

CHISINAU. May 13 (Interfax) - A reservist training will be held in Moldova in the second half of May, the press service for the Moldovan Defense Ministry said on Friday.

According to the report, the training will take place on May 20-24, on May 27-30, and also on September 25-29. The purpose of the training is to check reservists' skills and familiarize them with the hardware, equipment and weapons of the National Army.

"The training is being held in accordance with the law on reserve of the Armed Forces and the National Army training plan for 2024. In this regard, Moldovan reservists will receive summons to the training from their local military territorial centers," the report said.

The most recent training took place in March 2024, and the next training is planned for June, the ministry said. The May training will last five days.

Reservist trainings were also conducted in 2023 in April, May, June and September. The training plan is approved and published beforehand, and the exercise has no relation to the security situation in the region, the report said.

Under the legislation, those who will fail to come to the training without good reasons may be fined up to 32,500 lei (a little more than 1,500 euro) or get up to 150 hours of community service.
