Federation Council committees have positive attitude to Kolokoltsev's candidacy for interior minister - Matviyenko

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - The Federation Council Committees on Defense and Security and on Constitutional Legislation and State Building have held joint consultations on Vladimir Kolokoltsev's candidacy for interior minister.

"We have an exceptionally positive attitude to this nomination," Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said during the consultations on Monday.

At the same time, "there are many problems in the ministry, including the not very high salaries of police officers, equipment, provision of vehicles, and others," she said.

However, "Vladimir Alexandrovich keeps fighting for his industry and employees," Matviyenko said.

The debates on Kolokoltsev's candidacy will take place at a plenary session of the Federation Council on Tuesday.
