Russian senators conclude consultations on candidates for security chiefs

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - The Russian Federation Council has concluded consultations on candidates for the posts of chiefs of federal security agencies and the Foreign Ministry which it started on Monday.

The Federation Council resolved in a statement passed at the plenary session on Tuesday "to recognize as valid consultations on the candidates nominated by the Russian president for the posts of heads of federal executive bodies in charge of defense, state security, internal affairs, justice, foreign affairs, the prevention of emergency situations and the elimination of consequences of natural disasters, and public security."

"We have been convinced that the president nominated very worthy candidates who have devoted all their lives to serving their homeland, who are experienced, professional, reliable, and reputable specialists capable of dealing with the most complicated issues, which they have proven in practice," Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said at the session.

The candidates themselves took part in the discussions, and senators asked them questions at the session.
