HARBIN. May 17 (Interfax) - Russia believes China is sincerely seeking to resolve the Ukraine problem, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday, adding that he discussed the matter in great detail with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their informal meeting on Thursday.
"Indeed, such a meeting did take place in a narrow format. We did discuss a lot of issues important for bilateral relations. We touched upon a settlement of the Ukraine crisis. The Chinese president presented the key points of conversations during his recent trip to Europe and set out his position regarding China's peace initiatives to me," Putin said at a press conference at the conclusion of his visit to China.
"We've said repeatedly that we believe China is sincerely seeking to settle this problem, proposing various options, acting very flexibly, and in my view, sincerely seeking to resolve this problem. We've discussed this in fairly great detail," Putin said.
