YEREVAN. May 20 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a telegram to Iranian Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei, extending condolences over the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and accompanying officials in a helicopter crash.
"Your Eminence, I am shocked by the news of the death of the president of the Republic of Iran and the accompanying officials in the helicopter crash. On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Armenia, I express my sincere condolences and sympathy over the tragic death of my dear friend and colleague, President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and the accompanying officials," Pashinyan said.
"I also express my support for the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran and wish them strength and resilience at this hard time," he said.
Armenia and its people "will stay together with our friendly neighbor and its people" at this difficult time for Iran, Pashinyan said.
