ASTANA. May 21 (Interfax) - There is no reason to talk about changes in Iran's foreign policy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"I sincerely see no reason to speculate about possible changes in the foreign policy course of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Lavrov told reporters after a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers in Astana.
"Quite the opposite, the Iranian delegation head, deputy minister [Mehdi Safari], who is taking part in the SCO meeting, has reaffirmed the clear interest in implementing a series of practical projects in the fields of transport and energy coordinated by the presidents and essential for the development of Iran and the North-South corridor," Lavrov said.
He also said he talked with Safari on the sidelines of the SCO ministerial meeting, and Safari "confirmed the continuity of our relations."
"By the way, the Iranian ambassador in Moscow, Mr. Jalali, who met with President Putin and representatives of our defense and emergency agencies yesterday, also said there would be no change in Iran's foreign policy, including further partnership with all neighbors, among them SCO members," Lavrov said.
