CHISINAU. May 29 (Interfax) - Moldova has imposed restrictions on the use of its airspace in view of United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to Moldova set for Wednesday afternoon, the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority said.
"Between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. (local time), airspace is closed for flights of general aviation, helicopters, air balloons, powered hang gliders, and paragliders, as well as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones)," it said.
All commercial flights to and from Chisinau International Airport will be operated according to schedule, it said.
As reported, Blinken is due to visit Moldova in the second half of Wednesday. He will meet with Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Blinken and Sandu will give a joint press conference at 5:30 p.m., during which the U.S. secretary of state is expected to announce a new support package for Moldova.
On Wednesday evening, Blinken will depart Chisinau for Prague.
Blinken previously visited Chisinau in March 2022.
