MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Russia has welcomed the Chinese president's proposal on a peace conference on Ukraine, but only if Moscow and Kiev participate in it equally, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said.
"We have welcomed the well-thought out decision of our Chinese partners not to participate in various conferences and forums on implementing so-called peace initiatives. We welcome the Chinese president's proposal to call an international peace conference provided that equal participation of Moscow and Kiev in it is ensured, and that all peace formulas, not just one, will be discussed," Rudenko said at the Russia-China: Cooperation in a New Era conference on Thursday.
"We have never refused negotiations. We remain open to them now, but we will not do this at someone's dictate, and instead while taking into account our own security concerns and the current reality," he said.
