Russian DM arrives in Almaty for CSTO Council of Defense Ministers' meeting

ALMATY. May 30 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on a working visit on Thursday to attend a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)'s Council of Defense Ministers, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Defense ministers from CSTO member states, the CSTO secretary general and the chief of the CSTO Joint Staff are due to attend the meeting. They will exchange views on threats and challenges to military security in the organization's zone of responsibility," the ministry said.

Belousov will hold a number of bilateral meetings with counterparts from CSTO member states on the event's sidelines, it said.

The CSTO comprises Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the ministry said.
