VLADIVOSTOK. May 31 (Interfax) - Russian Pacific Fleet missile ships have practiced anti-drone and anti-ship defense of Vladivostok bases in the Sea of Japan, the fleet's press service said.
"Five missile ships were divided into two strike groups and tasked to repel a mock enemy attack on several parts of the Pacific Fleet's main base by unmanned surface vehicles," the press service said.
Minesweepers created a safe passage from the base for the missile ships, which deployed to the area where the mock enemy was present.
The groups carried out a combined strike on simulated unmanned surface vehicles launched from the mock enemy ship.
"Missile ships destroyed every mock target using artillery systems and heavy machineguns," the press service said.
At the second stage of the exercise, the ships simulated a joint strike with Moskit missile systems on the mock enemy.
All targets set by the fleet command were achieved.
The exercise was part of the Pacific Fleet's training plan.
