U.S. ban on Russian uranium imports may affect global market over time - IAEA's Grossi

BRUSSELS. June 3 (Interfax) - The United States' ban on imports of Russian uranium may affect the international uranium market, although these changes will not occur overnight, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said.

"Changes on the market will occur, but it will not be an overnight. I think, it will take a few years," Grossi said at a press conference when commenting on the effects that the U.S. ban on Russian uranium imports may have on the fuel's global market.

Grossi said he did not see the situation as one complicating the IAEA's activity.

In mid-May, U.S. President Joe Biden signed legislation into law banning imports of unirradiated low-enriched uranium produced in Russia or by a Russian entity to the U.S..
