Putin to call Modi after vote count in India's parliamentary election completed - Kremlin aide

MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to call Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning after the counting of ballots in the country's parliamentary election is completed, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.

"We have certainly been closely following the progress of the election in India. We know that Modi's coalition has won a majority of seats in parliament in that country. Now, as far as we know, the final vote count is underway, and we are waiting for an opportunity to organize a phone conversation between our president and Modi," he told reporters.

"This may take place tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on when the final vote count is over," Ushakov said.

"Mr. Modi will be pleased to talk to the president after the final vote count is over, but the winners are already somewhat known," Ushakov said.
