Russian troops conduct air defense exercise in Tajikistan

YEKATERINBURG. June 4 (Interfax) - Russian Air Defense Forces at the country's 201st military base have held an exercise in Tajikistan to repel mock enemy air and missile strikes, the Central Military District's press service said on Tuesday.

"A battalion of S-300PS air defense missile systems received a signal that would be placed on high alert during the exercise. The crews detected simulated high-speed targets, captured and tracked them, and performed electronic launches of guided anti-aircraft missiles against airborne targets simulating mock enemy advanced air attack weapons," it said.

The military personnel also drilled in reloading S-300PS systems with missiles, while a security and defense unit drilled in repelling an attack by simulated sabotage and reconnaissance groups on combat positions.
