Shoigu: Any talks on Ukraine useless without Russia, NATO countries not seeking peace

ALMATY. June 6 (Interfax) - The peace conference on Ukraine in Switzerland is futile without Russia's participation, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said.

"The so-called peace conference is due to take place in Switzerland next week. [...] It is obvious that, first, any negotiation formats on Ukraine are useless without Russia and, second, that NATO countries are not seeking peace," Shoigu said at a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Committee of Security Council Secretaries.

The West continues to stuff Ukraine with money and weapons, intensively train Ukrainian troops and send mercenaries to Ukraine, he said.

"These actions pursue a very clear goal, which is to use Ukraine as a weapon against Russia and to cause maximum damage to our country. It has now become totally clear that the attempt to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia has failed," Shoigu said.
