HELSINKI. June 10 (Interfax) - A Russian military plane may have violated Finnish airspace in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland near Loviisa, the Finnish Defense Ministry said.
"A Russian military aircraft is suspected to have violated Finnish air space [...] in the morning today. The aircraft was in Finnish air space for approximately 2 minutes, as deepest 2.5 kilometers inside Finnish territory," the ministry said.
"We take this suspected territorial violation seriously and investigations have begun," Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen said.
The last confirmed violation by Russian aircraft of Finland's airspace occurred in August 2022, when two Russian fighters violated the border in the Gulf of Finland, the ministry said.
