MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud discussed the prospects for further advancing multifaceted cooperation between their countries on the sidelines of a meeting of the BRICS Council of Foreign Ministers in Nizhny Novgorod, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.
"The parties held a detailed exchange of views on key issues on the global and regional agenda. They reaffirmed their shared stance in favor of the need to consolidate collective efforts to secure the soonest political and diplomatic solution to acute crises, in the Middle East region, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," the ministry said.
Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia joined BRICS on January 1, 2024.
