MOSCOW. June 11 (Interfax) - The Russian military delivered six strikes on militant bases in the mountains of Syria's Homs and Deir-ez-Zor provinces over the past day, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Maj. Gen. Yury Popov said.
"The Russian Aerospace Forces delivered six strikes on uncovered bases of militants who left the Al-Tanf area and were hiding in difficult-to-reach parts of the Al-Amur mountain range in Homs province and the Al-Bishri mountain range in Deir-ez-Zor province," Popov said at a press briefing on Monday.
The command of the Syrian army, backed by the Russian group of forces, is continuing reconnaissance and search operations in the mountain and desert areas of Homs, Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor provinces, he said.
Three attacks on Syrian forces' positions by the Jabhat al-Nusra and Turkistan Islamic Party terrorist groups (both banned in Russia) were recorded in the Idlib de-escalation area over the past day, including two in Idlib province and one in Aleppo province, he said.
"One Syrian soldier was wounded when terrorists fired an SPG-9 grenade launcher on Syrian government forces' positions near Rouweiha in Idlib province," Popov said,
Aircraft of the U.S-led coalition have continued to create dangerous situations in Syria's airspace, he said.
"One breach of the deconfliction protocols dated December 9, 2019, by flights of the coalition's unmanned aerial vehicles uncoordinated with the Russian side was recorded over the day," he said.
"Ten violations of Syrian airspace by two pairs of coalition F-15 fighter jets, a pair of Typhoon fighter jets and two pairs of A-10 Thunderbolt attack planes were recorded over the al-Tanf area over the past day," Popov said.
